Viagra for shift-work?

Well well, wonders never cease, I read a curious article today about how Viagra can actually help circadian phase shift advancement ( recall that advancing the circadian rhythm is substantially harder than delaying it ) , and was lead to this study

I love self experimentation, so now I just gotta pluck up the balls to go into my local boots store and get some. I think Ill use it in the morning right when im advancing the circadian rhythm with the light box.

In other news, im contemplating getting a Vitamin D lamp.

  1. Ha! I wouldn't necessarily go into the local Boots asking for it but maybe one at the opposite end of London.

  2. hi, Kindke -- this is completely off-topic, but have you come across any well-done studies which show deleterious effects of canola oil? :-) Fred and i have definitely different impressions on its healthfulness, and a cursory search on PubMed didn't illuminate me AT ALL....

  3. Hi Tess,

I dont think ever come across "studies" per se, according to Wikipedia canola oil has a fatty acid profile that isnt too dissimilar to olive oil so perhaps canola oil wouldnt be as bad as corn oil. Its the PUFA/omega6 that makes me twitchy.

Personally I wouldnt use canola oil if I could help it.

  4. yes, i agree. the only time i consume any is when i "accidentally" eat it in restaurants. i've been under the impression that it's particularly not-good for hypothyroids like me, because rapeseed/brassicas are goitrogenic, and i GENERALLY stay away from such foodstuffs, even in their lectin-lowered states. :-) i just wondered if you might remember reading anything on the subject.... thanks!
